Omnibook travels to the Leipzig Book Fair¶
Grey days full of rain or snow are coming to an end and Spring will be in full swing soon. Spring also means that Leipzig book fair (March 17-20) and its reading festival “Leipzig reads” are just around the corner. These are the most important Spring events of the book and media industry, especially for authors, but also for publishing companies meeting their readers. Everyone is meeting to collect information, exchange the ideas and discover what is new in the industry.
Beside the usual business, the trip to Leipzig has an additional thrill this time as we will be publicly presenting Omnibook! Omnibook is a social platform for writing books powered by Booktype. Think about it as if it was Facebook for writers. Think receiving instant feedback while you write. Think asking for help with editing, translating or just motivation for the next chapter.
Omnibook was launched in October 2015 just before the last National Novel Writing Month (also known as #NaNoWriMo) and while we didn’t really promote its existence much, today there are more than 550 authors writing their books using the platform. Now, we’d like to grow this community even further!
In Leipzig I’ll be talking to authors and publishers, presenting Omnibook to them. For three years we have been providing authors and publishers with Booktype, meaning that they could sign up for Booktype without having to install the server themselves. The release of Booktype 2.0 last autumn which featured many improvements in technology and design, usability and server architecture, triggered us to rethink the services we offer from scratch. Making it even more accessible.
We came to realise that the strength of Booktype as an online service is the community it can build around writing books. Writing can often feel like a lonely activity, this is when Omnibook comes to the rescue: it lets authors write, exchange ideas, discuss and collaborate. But when it comes to some serious work, Omnibook can also be the place where one locks everybody else out and locks herself into her novel, no disturbances, no peeking!
Whether you’re an author, a reader, an editor or a publisher, I’m looking forward to showing you around. Or you can already head to omnibook.pro and start writing and producing books. It’s free and it couldn’t be simpler to get creative, exchange ideas, discuss and collaborate. You’ll never feel alone again while writing your book.
